(from Reggae-reviews.com)
Gato Negro, AKA Black Cat AKA Emmanuel Okoronta, is a dubster from Nigeria who sounds something like a cross between Lee "Scratch" Perry and Augustus Pablo -- the former because of his semi-crazed, rambling vocals (though still more coherent than Perry) and the latter because of his frequent use of the airy melodica. At times, this combination of sounds rivals the genius of Gato Negro's predecessors -- as on "Armageddon," "Conflagration," and "Reggae for Lumumba". The overall sound is nice; big fans of dub -- especially the old-fashioned, rootsy, '70s style -- should find it appealing.
